Anti Aging Nutrition

You should be interested in anti aging nutrition if you want to look and feel younger, as the importance of nutrition for these areas is paramount. Here are some nutrition guidelines to help you make the best choices when it comes to food for health.

Why Does Nutrition Matter?

As we know all living things need food and water to stay alive.

But if you want the best life extension possible, live well and have great looking skin, hair and nails then you'll need to consume good food.

By good food I mean food which contains the essential nutrients our body thrives on.

Without these essential nutrients our body will start to break down,

for example:

  • If we lack in vitamin D our bones will become brittle;
  • If we lack in Iron, we feel tired with little energy;
  • If we lack in vitamin C our gums may bleed.

We also need good food for energy.  Every mouthful of food we consume is either burnt or metabolised by your body cells to give you energy.

Essential nutrients are vitamins, minerals, amino acids and some fatty acids.  These are discussed in more detail on their own page.

Nutrition and Anti Aging

So how can nutrition help with anti aging?  Well, a lot really.

Certain foods and supplements provide essential nutrients that lessen the natural consequences of growing older.  For example:

  • Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants and vitamins.  Therefore, if you eat a variety of different coloured fruits and vegetables this will be beneficial in helping to prevent age-related diseases and even wrinkles.

  • As you get older the way the contractions move food through your gut slow down, but if you eat a daily dose of fibre, this helps with the flow of your intestinal tract.

Your Skin

First of all, the two largest causes of wrinkled skin is through exposure to the sun and smoking.   So if having wrinkled skin really bothers you then don't go outside without any sun factor on and don't smoke.

The Importance of NutritionYour skin is also inherited from the genes of your mother and father and there isn't much you can do about that.  However, your daily diet does play a crucial role in how your skin looks.

For example, as we get older the outer layer of our skin (called the stratum corneum) gets thinner, loses it's elasticity and loses it's ability to hold moisture.

Therefore it would make sense to have a diet which is rich in fat to help keep your skin moist.  By fat I mean the good fats such as omega's 3 and 6 which can be found in oily fish.  If you don't like fish then I suggest you buy some omega 3 fish oil capsules.

Nutrition From Food

I know that I have a section on weight loss, but really, if you eat a healthy nutritional daily diet anyway, you won't have to worry about calories.  If you follow the guidance on this site, especially when it comes to food, you can fight the effects of aging with every single meal!

As I mentioned on the anti aging secrets page, beauty comes from within, and this is where 'You Are What You Eat' comes into the equation.

The key to a healthy, slim, lean body and a beautiful complexion is to eat nutrition-packed, antioxidant-rich foods.

Antioxidants successfully destroy free radicals which disrupt and damage our skin cells causing our skin to wrinkle, sag and have a poor complexion.

Tip: If you're not sure which fruits and vegetables have antioxidants in them, just go for the lovely colored fruits and vegetables such as bight red peppers, dark leafy greens, bright blue blueberries and deep red raspberries.  These colors are a sign that they are packed with antioxidants.  Eat them in abundance!

In food, you're looking to get a good combination of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to get to the point of good health from within and from within your mind.

Nutrition From Supplements

Aside from eating food for nutritional purposes you can also get supplements for added vitamins and minerals.  Some people naturally lack certain vitamins than others and it's therefore necessary to boost up those vitamins with supplements.

For example, you could be deficient in vitamin D which is essential for strong bones, therefore you'll have to take a vitamin D supplement.  If you think that your not deficient in any particular vitamin, you could consider taking a multi-vitamin capsule which cover all of the most popular and essential vitamins.
