How Exercises For The Face Reduces Wrinkles

If you are serious about reducing your wrinkles then face exercises are a must.  Exercises for the face are what's called a Facelift Through Exercise and there is overwhelming evidence that it works!

This is Carolyn Cleaves, the creator of Carolyn's Facial FitnessTM . Apparently, Carolyn is 59 years old in this DVD and I think you'll agree that she looks pretty good for her age.

So How Do Face Exercises Work?

Facial exercises work by using certain techniques to tone and re-build the muscles in our face.  There are 57 muscles in the face and neck and if we use resistance training on these muscles, then the fibres in the muscles increase which strengthens both the muscle and the skin.

When this happens you will start to see your cheekbones lift, lift-up the eyelids along with tightening sagging jowls, double chin and turkey neck.  The best thing is that they only take fifteen minutes a day to do and you can start seeing visible results in two weeks.

Types of Facial Exercises

There are many different ways you can exercise your face.  For example you can do facial yoga, isometric face training or resistance facial exercises.

face exercisesIsometic Face Training

This is the mildest form of exercise which is for younger people in their 20's and 30's who want to prevent wrinkles. This method is purely for toning the muscles in the face and requires no resistance work.

Facial Yoga

This type of exercise is based around the principle of resistance training.  However, with it being 'yoga' it also brings in some classical yoga techniques such as facial yoga poses and breathing.

Resistance Face Exercises

For the purpose of this page, I'm going to focus on discussing resistance exercises for the face for two reasons:

#1 Resistance face exercises are designed for people who already have facial wrinkles.  This will be the age group of people who are 35+ and who are the majority of readers of this site.

#2  I have and use Carolyn's DVD daily!  Therefore what this means to you is that I can act as a testimony for her facial exercise techniques and that they do indeed work.

So, as the name suggests, resistance exercises is where you put resistance on your facial muscles with your fingers by using pressure and sliding motions to tone and build-up the muscles in your face.

By using Carolyn's methods, you actually build-up the muscles which will in effect lift your jowls, droopy eyelids, cheekbones and generally give you an overall appearance of a face-lift.

The best way to show and prove to you that these exercises work, take a look at the before and after photographs of some of Carolyn's customers who have purchased her DVD.

Example Of Resistance Exercises

Here are a couple of examples of Carolyn's facial exercises.  These two focus on the neck and double chin which are common problems when you are middle aged.

Neck Firmer: Firms & Tightens Neck

Grasp with a wide-open, hand, under the chin. Tilt the chin towards the ceiling feeling the stretch in your neck Slide your open hand down to your collarbone and Hold, while counting to ten. Repeat 5 times.

Tongue Press: Eliminate Your Double Chin

Left

Right
Place your thumb pads, one in front of the other, resting under the chin, fingers resting against the jawbone. As you press the tongue against the roof of the mouth, press and slide your thumbs, alternately, from front (directly under the chin) to back (to where the under chin meets the neck), making a rhythm of one thumb slide for every tongue press. Repeat 40 times.

Additional Information

Notice how these two exercises illustrate pressing and sliding, this is the resistance which builds up the muscles.  Don't worry, doing this type of resistance training does not give you more wrinkles as some people think.  You are in a sense massaging and firming up your facial skin.

When you think about it, when we show facial expressions (smiling, frowning etc.) it is the muscle controlling the skin to move because because many of the muscles in our face are attached to the skin.  So if we improve the muscle structure, it will in turn improve the facial skin structure.

In addition to tightening and reshaping our facial skin, exercises for the face help get more oxygen and nutrients into the skin cells which in turn helps new skin cells to develop and push out old dead skin cells.
